LACMA South Approved, to Open in 18 Months(?)

On Friday L.A. City Council approved LACMA's bid to open a branch in South Los Angeles Wetlands Park. It's an axiom that no museum building project comes in on time and on budget. But the agreement has LACMA promising to open 10,000 sq. ft. of the space in 18 months. Budget is said to be $25 to $30 million for renovations.

At top is a rendering of the park. LACMA will occupy the building in the background, a former bus storage facility with a Parrish Museum-like profile.
