Old in the Art Market

The New York Times has an article on Wendell Dayton, an L.A. sculptor who's having his first big gallery show at age 80. The article mentions that LACMA has acquired one of Dayton's pieces. It's Crescent (1968), a 2018 gift of the artist. Crescent is a stainless steel work from Dayton's time in New York. Taxi tycoon and collector Robert Scull supplied him with stainless steel.

The gallery show, "Wendell Dayton," is at Blum and Poe L.A. through Aug. 18, 2018.
