Lauren Halsey Wins Mohn Award

The UCLA Hammer Museum has announced Lauren Halsey as winner of this year's Mohn Award, worth $100,000. Halsey's The Crenshaw District Hieroglyph Project (Prototype Architecture), at top, is featured in "Made in L.A. 2018," and she has an installation at MOCA Grand Avenue through Sep. 3. The Hammer is to publish a monograph on Halsey's work.

In addition Daniel Joseph Martinez has won the Career Achievement Award. The crowd-sourced Public Recognition Award, voted by museum visitors, went to EJ Hill. It's Hill who stood silently on an Olympics-style platform as part of his Excellentia, Mollitia, Victoria.
