Judy Chicago to Have SF Retrospective

Judy Chicago, Through the Flower, 1973
ArtNews is reporting that Judy Chicago will have her largest-ever retrospective at San Francisco's de Young Museum in May 2020. The artist announced the news at her 80th birthday celebration in New Mexico.

Just last year, Chicago had smaller exhibitions at the Pasadena Museum of California Art and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami. The de Young show will have about 100 objects, though it will not include The Dinner Party—which will remain in Brooklyn.

Coincidentally, Michol Hebron recently offered this thought.

Deitch Projects also has a show of her work from the 60s/early 70s coming up as well so clearly something is in the air. Between this and his Frieze LA booth focused on her, he's presenting much more of her work than any of the local museums sadly.
