Last week
a British arts editor set off a Twitter frenzy by saying it's too much trouble to name curators in exhibition reviews. That shouldn't be an issue with a small show coming to the Huntington: "The Hilton Als Series: Lynette Yiadom-Boakye" (Jan. 25–May 11, 2020). The multi-talented Als also curated the one-room Celia Paul exhibition recently on view at the Huntington and is planning "The Hilton Als Series: Njideka Akunyili Crosby" for 2021. All three exhibitions originated/will originate at the Yale Center for British Art.
Museums of older art art have often stumbled in trying to present the art of our time. I thought
Als' Celia Paul show was the Huntington's most successful effort in that direction.
