A Baroque Terracotta for the Getty

Agostino Corsini, Saint Jerome, 1734. J. Paul Getty Museum

Here's a Getty buy you're likely to see long before (O)mai. The museum has acquired a 25-inch-high terracotta Saint Jerome by Bolognese sculptor Agostino Corsini (1688–1772). Corsini was one of the team of late baroque sculptors who created figures for Rome's Trevi fountain. The Saint Jerome is a presentation model of a figure for the Pope's chapel of San Giovanni in Laterno, Rome.

The sculpture was offered by Lullo Pampoulides at TEFAF 2022.
