Mark and Janet Hilbert have donated a new group of 145 works to the Hilbert Museum of California Art at Chapman University, Orange. The gifts span 1930s American Scene painting and contemporary realist outliers, from a tropical Art Deco confection by Jessie Arms Botke to portraits by Don Bachardy and Pat Berge and lithographs by Ernie Barnes Jr. and Richard Diebenkorn.

The new Hilbert Museum is expected to open in early 2024.
