The Huntington Library's public exhibition halls are expected to reopen in Spring 2029, the institution announced. The space is closed for refurbishment of Myron Hunt's 1919 structure by the firm of Robert A.M. Stern, who died last year. Shown is a new rendering of the west facade of what they're now calling the Library/Art Building (LAB). The west facade will be used mainly for staff and visiting scholars. Hunt's Beaux-Arts south facade, more visible to the public, will be preserved.
In the interim, library materials are being shown in small installations in the Huntington Gallery.
