LACMA has installed another commissioned artwork for the campus around the David Geffen Galleries. It's an outdoor sculpture of a flying saucer by Shio Kusaka, known for playful ceramics that reference dinosaurs, art history, or the future. Beam can be taken as a populist photo-op or a punning monument to L.A.'s Light and Space movement. LACMA's Unframed blog has comments by the artist.

Meanwhile the Huntington is preparing to unveil its Robert Indiana LOVE sculpture, acquired earlier this year. It is located outside the Virginia Steele Scott Galleries of American Art.

Ooo..I like "Beam," of 2006. What's the medium?
It's looks great reflected in the nearby glass.
My bad—it's 2026, not 2006. The media are given as aluminum, stainless steel, and clay.

I'm still wondering what's going on with this artwork:

The Liberman is one of several pieces in LACMA's collection that are presumably light impervious and need to be installed on some of the otherwise large blank outdoor areas under or around the Geffen, or placed upstairs near the many windows.
