Guerilla Girls Archives to Getty

In spite of looming cutbacks, the Getty Trust keeps announcing acquisitions. The Getty Research Institute has acquired the papers of the Guerilla Girls, 1985 to 2000, complete with mask and plastic bananas. At the Museum, the photography department has bought 9 works by Wang Quingsong and Hai Bo, its first foray into big, contemporary Chinese photography. The Getty is starting to be serious about Asia. In the past few years it has bought prints by some key Japanese modernists, mostly older and working in black and white.
