LACMA to Reopen in July

The Petersen Automotive Museum opened last weekend, offering masked selfies with a suitably post-apocalyptic Tesla Cybertruck. Meanwhile LAist has word from Michael Govan that LACMA will open in July, "possibly as soon as July 6th." Visitors will be limited by timed admissions and follow social distancing protocols. The Luchita Hurtado show, shut by the lockdown, is to be extended, and the Yoshitomo Nara exhibition will debut at the reopening.
Many restaurants are reopening, and presumably gallery going is less risky than sit-down dining (where masks must be removed). But there's no reassurance in recent health department statistics. Yesterday new COVID cases in California spiked to 6492, half again larger than the previous record (set only five days before).

"White privilege" is tearing down perfectly usable exhibition spaces and spending big money - a good chunk from public coffers - to replace them with galleries containing less square footage and fewer technical and operational amenities.
LACMA's director should be BLMed and Covided upside his head.
... Recent events have only served to expose the Save-LACMA mob for what it is, an instrument of white privilege.
> an instrument of white privilege.
LOL. You might just as well claim that Michael Govan originally was a poor black child reared in the projects who has done good decades later by making the gold-plated Peter-Zumthor mess a perfect encapsulation of "no justice, no peace."
Thinking that Michael Govan has to be black to do the right thing.
See folks. The Save-LACMA mob is not what it appears to be.
> black to do the right thing.
True to form, your politics are as screwball, demented and unethical as your take on Govan-Zumthor and the ongoing debacle of LACMA happens to be.
People like you verify why LACMA's director and his enablers are a cultural version of a combination of Covid-19 and Minneapolis.
Two-in-one disasters.
Thanks for the hilarity.
