LACMA to Open Modern Galleries in June

Anne Truitt, White: Four, 1962. LACMA

LACMA will debut a new, Frank Gehry-designed installation of its modern art collection this June. Located on the top floor of BCAM, it will bring back to view 20th-century pieces from Europe, the U.S., and Latin America alongside new acquisitions by Joseph Albers, Judy Chicago, Theo van Doesburg, Jacob Lawrence, and Anne Truitt. The display, curated by Stephanie Barron, will be the only long-term presentation of LACMA's permanent collection until the Peter Zumthor building opens (planned for 2024).

Ticketing begins June 2, with member previews running June 10-12.

Why wasn't this completed by the first day LACMA reopened? What was LACMA doing during the entire year it was closed?
