David Hammons Black Mirror to Broad

David Hammons, untitled, 2014. The Broad

The Broad has acquired an untitled David Hammons work, part of a series of ornate mirrors wrapped in black gauze. It joins another Hammons in the collection, the African-American Flag, and a group of works by Black artists added since Eli Broad's 2021 death, spanning Henry Taylor, Mickalene Thomas, and Hank Willis Thomas. All are now on view.

Haven't yet seen it in person, but I'm guessing it's more Duchamp "Miroir" in the way it works than it is Bruce Conner.
