Quote of the Day: Helen Molesworth

From Helen Molesworth's Instagram account

"Artists can be very competitive with each other, but at the end of the day there is no such thing as a stat. There’s no way to measure who the GOAT [Greatest Of All Time] is."

—Helen Molesworth

Curator Helen Molesworth is as articulate about basketball as about art. The Provincetown Independent has a piece on Molesworth the Celtics fan.

Molesworth says of Dallas Mavericks forward Derrick Jones Jr.: "He just went through three huge guys and he’s corkscrewing up into a narrow space and off the glass. The amount of knowledge in that space right there is extraordinary. To me, that’s like thinking about sculpture: How is he making that space, defending that space? What’s he doing with the props in that space? It’s a similar muscle."

But there are certain ways to measure the size of a museum.

Although the Louvre's square footage may still be larger than this upcoming new building in Cairo will be, both of them sure as heck are way larger than the already reduced footprint of the Govan/Zumthor overpass. However, Tik-Tok/Instagram moments admittedly probably favor the project on Wilshire Blvd versus the one in Egypt.
