When announced in 2024 Dataland, Refik Anadol's museum of AI art, was to open in 2025. It's now October and they've pushed the opening back to spring 2026, exact date to come.
Shown is Anadol's Infinity Room, announced as an inaugural exhibit.
Comments
It was displayed in ultra hi-def on a screen on a 75-ft. wall in the museum lobby.
I couldn't take my eyes off it.
If you hear the name Refik Anadol, buckle up..it's important.
> back to spring 2026
Projects in LA sure do have a way of ending up delayed, not helped by the hangover of Covid in 2020 (eg, lack of qualified workers, limited supply chains).
Dataland is north of MOCA and the Broad in a section of the city that for over 75 years has had a checkered history. The art exhibit (non a pop-up but also not in a permanent-type status either) has been able to take advantage of issues with rocky economics. The neighborhood Dataland is in also hasn't been helped by trends since 2020, now made even worse by ongoing publicity about urban decline, urban anomie.
