Latinx Arts Alliance Launches

Five arts institutions—La Plaza de Cultura y Artes, the Museum of Latin American Art, Self Help Graphics & Art, the Social and Public Art Resource Center, and the Vincent Price Art Museum—have launched the Latinx Arts Alliance, a platform for promoting Latino art, artists, and programs. High on the Alliance's wish list is achieving institutional funding more commensurate with California's demographics. Latinos make up 39 percent of the state's population, yet only 1.3 percent of philanthropic funds go to designated Latinx organizations. The proportion going to Latinx arts institutions is considerably less.
