Judge Cancels Bogus "Urban Light"

Love Light at Rabbit Town, Bandung, Indonesia

ArtNet reports that the Chris Burden estate has prevailed in its plagiarism suit against "Rabbit Town," a selfie-oriented Indonesian tourist attraction that includes a knock-off of Urban Light. Under the ruling Rabbit Town must remove the bogus Burden (known as "Love Light"), issue an apology to the estate, and pay a billion rupiah in damages (about $69,000).

Rabbit Town founder Henry Husada denied the plagiarism charge: "I have also loved lamps and electricity since I was young."

The plaintiff's evidence included a selfie of the entrepreneur's daughters posing in front of the authentic Urban Light at LACMA.
