Clayton Schiff's hallucinatory paintings evoke the anxieties and fetishism of housing. New to the Hammer Contemporary Collection is Schiff's Sanctum (2023). A Gumby-like sad sack wraps a tiny apartment in a joyless embrace. 

Sanctum is oil on canvas, 46 by 42 in. The bicoastal gallery Harkawik represented the Brooklyn-based artist in the sale.
