Flames Threaten Getty Villa, Eames & Thomas Mann Homes

Video still of Palisades fire at Pacific Coast Highway
By sunset Tuesday the Palisades wildfire had reached the grounds of the Getty Villa. Also threatened is the Eames House, an icon of modern design, the Thomas Mann House, and Villa Aurora.

As of Wednesday morning, the Getty Villa's staff and art are said to be safe. The Thomas Mann House/Villa Aurora site says all visiting scholars and employees are safe, but "the situation in immediate vicinity of Villa Aurora is especially dire and we must expect the worst." I have been unable to get an update on the Eames House.

The Getty Villa will be closed at least through next Wednesday.

UPDATE: The L.A. Times says Eames House is OK, as of midday Wednesday.

Devastating!
First it was the precious Ringling in the path of a Florida hurricane-induced storm surge.
Now the Getty Villa.
When will it end?

I remember always worrying about Malibu fires reaching the Getty Center until I read that they were the most fire-proof structure in all of California. Does the same apply to the Getty Villa?

Villa Aurora and Thomas Mann House are different Buildings. Villa Aurora was the home of the German author Lion Feuchtwanger. But they are nearby.
Thanks for the correction!
