MOCA Will Charge $18 for Richter

MOCA will be charging $18 for its upcoming Gerhard Richter exhibition. That's $3 more than the $15 general admission the museum charged before it went free this past January.

"Gerhard Richter: Painting After All," co-organized with the Metropolitan Museum, will run Aug. 15, 2020–Jan. 18, 2021. Richter admission will be free Thursdays from 5 to 8 PM, but as the show is ticketed, the free slots are likely to go quickly. Ticketing starts July 14.

Tickets are $10 for students and seniors; free to children under 12, jurors, and MOCA members.

So looking forward to this. Great review in The New York Times - https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/05/arts/design/gerhard-richter-review-met-breuer.html?action=click&module=Features&pgtype=Homepage

...and if it were at the Broad across the street it would be $25 and require a timed ticket....so the $18 is more than fine
The MOCA press release doesn't quite say so but I suspect these will be timed tickets. (That's usually the case when they announce that ticketing starts a month before the show.)

I have my reservations about Richter’s greatness.

If the “blurring" is just a painterly gesture, what remains is just AbEx.

He’s represented by Marian Goodman. She represents a number of artists who have tried to reinvent painting, including Julie Mehretu.

Of all of them, the one with the most interesting process is Matt Saunders, but he’s yet to get the full recognition he deserves.

One thing is for sure, Marian is having a good year with Julie at LACMA and Richter at the Met.
