Barbara T. Smith Show for the Getty

The Getty is planning a retrospective of Barbara T. Smith, a figure central to the Feminist, performance, and art & technology movements. Smith explored the spiritual in art while collaborating with scientists and using technology to express the anxieties of contemporary life. The Getty Research Institute holds Smith's archive, spanning prints, drawings, photographs, artist's books, diaries, and audio and video recordings. "Barbara T. Smith: The Way to Be" will run Feb. 28, 2023–July 16, 2023.

Also on the Getty schedule is a show of 19th-century Danish painting and drawing co-organized with the Metropolitan Museum and the Staten Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen. "Beyond the Light: Identity and Place in 19th-Century Danish Art" is slated for May 23, 2023–Aug. 20, 2023.
