The California African American Museum will reopen May 22, in time for the Simone Leigh exhibition that is being jointly presented with LACMA. CAAM suffered water damage in last August's tropical storm Hilary, just weeks after debuting a $5 million building upgrade. The museum has been closed ever since.
"Simone Leigh," a traveling exhibition organized by the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston, will run May 26, 2024, to Jan. 20, 2025, at both CAAM and LACMA.
