German Posters to Rifkind Center

Anonymous, Germany, Peters Union Pneumatic, about 1900. LACMA, gift of Steven Gunther and Glenn Cardoso in honor of Madelynne Cardoso and Linda Essakow

LACMA's Unframed blog has a post announcing the gift of 40 early 20th-century color posters to the museum's  Rifkind Center for German Expressionist Studies. The posters are from a 6000-sheet trove assembled by Viennese collector Julius Paul (1867-1938). His collection was in the Albertina until 2008, when it was determined that it had been sold under duress in the Nazi era. The posters were restituted to Paul's heirs, and many have been placed in museums. Other parts of the collection are now in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Neue Galerie and MoMA, New York; and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.

Such pieces seem like they'd fit the Lucas museum better than LACMA.

Regardless, it will be interesting seeing the way that two buildings, both sitting on raised pedestals, work in displaying art objects.
Poundstone, Another excellent piece!
