This painting of a shredded flag is very appropriate for this moment. I fear that if Trump is re-elected, things will get even worse.

I too would love for this painting to be given to LACMA one day. Anybody know where the other Ruscha flag paintings are? It would be wonderful to re-unite them in a exhibit - this one captures the moment.

If that painting is ever gifted to LACMA, that would be appropriate. Appropriate given the way the museum's director and board of trustees, and elected city and county officials involved with them have ignored public sentiment and allowed a non-transparent process behind the financial, technical and operational mess of Govan/Zumthor.
Shredded democracy, indeed.

All county board of supervisors are elected democratically. They voted to fund and approve the plans.

All county board of supervisors elected to ignore the vast majority of their constituent’s protests against the Zumthor plan and voted on a deeply unpopular plan anyway.
