Houston-based investment banker Sir Mark Fehrs Haukohl has announced his intention to donate about 200 contemporary photographs to establish (take a deep breath) The Sir Mark Fehrs Haukohl Photography Collection at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and Brooklyn Museum. The two institutions will share ownership. The collection's artists are women working in Europe, most rarely seen in U.S. public collections. The gifts will take place over the next decade, with the works selected by LACMA's Britt Salvesen and Eve Schillo and a Brooklyn colleague, Drew Sawyer.

A sample of the collection will debut at LACMA this fall in "In the Now: Gender and Nation in Europe, Selections from the Sir Mark Fehrs Haukohl Photography Collection," Nov. 14, 2021–Feb. 13, 2022.
