OCMA to Survey Fred Eversley

Fred Eversley, untitled, 1976. Orange County Museum of Art

The Orange County Museum of Art will offer free admission for at least the first 10 years in its new Thom Mayne/Morphosis building (opening Oct. 8, 2022). Laguna Diamonds of Newport Beach is funding the free policy with a $2.5 million gift.

Opening exhibitions will be a new "California Biennial 2022" and "Fred Eversley: Reflecting Back (the World)." Spanning half a century of work, the latter is Eversley's first West Coast retrospective since 1978—at OCMA's predecessor, the Newport Harbor Art Museum. Brandeis University's Rose Art Museum did an Eversley show in 2017, though that was limited to works in the colors black, white, and gray. Since then MoMA, Crystal Bridges, and LACMA have acquired work by the artist.
