Mineo Mizuno "Tea House" Coming to LACMA

Mineo Mizuno will re-create his hyper-rustic Tea House for LACMA. The original is at his studio compound in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The Tea House draws on tea ceremony tradition while evoking studio-built "witch houses," Tim Burton, and California wildfires. "Mineo Mizuno: Harmony" will run on the Resnick Lawn Aug. 10 to Nov. 11, 2019.

It's a busy summer for architectural interventions in Hancock Park. Now on view is Lucio Cano and Jose Selgas' Second Home Pavilion near the tar pits (organized by NHMLA). Opening July 27 at LACMA is an outdoor sculptural installation by Zak Ové.

The Mizuno structure may have more space and flexibility than the proposed Zumthor.
