Chihuly on the Beach

Catalina is having an unexpected artistic moment. There are those Doug Aitken underwater polyhedra, first of all. And for those who prefer art on dry land, there's "Chihuly at the Catalina Island Museum," Mar. 26-Dec. 11, 2017.
Dale Chihuly is more popular with the general public than the art crowd. That could be a good fit for the Catalina museum, geared to day-trippers with time to kill before the ferry. The exhibition is billed as the museum's most ambitious art show, and it will install pieces in the new building's atrium and garden as well as its galleries.
Shown, White and Oxblood Seaform Set, 1983
