The UCLA Fowler Museum has acquired Alison Saar's
Muddy Water (1998) as a gift of Iona Benson. Though the Fowler doesn't normally pursue contemporary American art, it has a history with Saar. In 2000 it presented
an exhibition pairing Saar's sculptures with those of Luba art.
Muddy Water is copper-on-wood, with a repurposed washbasin. It's on view in the Fowler's permanent collection installation, in a global company.
