Las Vegas Has a New Demon

Las Vegas' Palms Casino Resort has installed Damien Hirst's 60-foot-high bronze Demon with Bowl. It's over three times the height of the David statue at Caesars Palace.

A resin cast version of the Demon was the centerpiece of Hirst's 2014 "Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable" exhibition in Venice. Critics panned that show, but works from it are getting a lot of play lately. A gold and silver Skull of Unicorn from the "Treasures" series is currently on view at the Getty Center in "Book of Beasts: The Bestiary in the Medieval World."
